Position Summary

The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer must be an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual, who shall possess the skills required to successfully develop and execute project tasks and deliverables, be a collaborative team player, and have a strong drive to deliver to customers. This candidate will develop and implement I&C concepts on process-driven projects, coordinating with our Innovae Team (process, mechanical, piping and electrical engineers), with our subcontractors and also client personnel. Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is necessary for developing drawing deliverables, including, experience with databases for developing an instrument index, I/O list and datasheets. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of Life Science, F&B, or Industrial manufacturing process projects including both existing building retrofits and grassroots construction.

 

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred

• 4-8 years of experience required, preferably in a design firm setting

• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit required

• Experience with databases required

• Experience with developing instrumentation and control strategies/philosophies for Life Science, F&B and/or industrial manufacturing processes preferred

Responsibilities

• Working with an instrument database or similar tool to develop an instrument index, I/O list, instrument data sheets, other.

• Selecting instrumentation for process control applications.

• Assisting in instrument sizing calculations for valves, flowmeters, other.

• Assisting process and mechanical engineers with P&ID development by adding I&C symbols to depict the intent of the design.

• Creating control panel drawings to include panel layout, panel wiring, and BOM

• Developing loop drawings and control wiring drawings to depict I&C circuitry. 

• Creating instrument location plans and instrument installation details.

• Coordinating with the PM and electrical engineer to locate control panels and ensuring appropriate control power is provided for I&C devices and panels.

• Developing I&C construction specifications.

• Following projects after construction documents are issued and reviewing submittals, answering RFIs, and making field visits to verify construction of I&C scope is proceeding per the intent of the design.
